The STEM Day in collaboration with the was held on the 14th March 2023. The event coincided with British Science Week.

The day comprised of the following activities:

  • A Stadium Design Workshop was run by engineering professionals from the SheCanEngineer Committee. The workshop introduced students to the various engineering roles and skills that are involved when delivering an engineering project and got involved in aspects of designing a stadium themselves.
  • A mini lecture by Professor Alice Larkin, who is Head of the School of Engineering at the University of Manchester and a Professor in Climate Science and Energy Policy
  • A Women in Aerospace workshop run by the Women in Science & Engineering Student Society at the University of Manchester
  • A Speed networking session with professional engineers and engineering students across a wide range of industries

Our Year 10 students enjoyed the day thoroughly and gained confidence in networking with alumni STEM professionals. It was also the first time our students entered a lecture theatre and discussed issues with a university lecturer. A great day overall.
